My First Crop.....

......of LETTUCE!!!  About two months ago a friend from work gave me a package of mesclun lettuce seeds.  I planted them and within two days, they were sprouting!  Dan had to work late last night and when he got home, he reminded me that we were supposed to have a hard freeze.  So, at about 11pm, Dan was holding the flashlight and I was snipping off my first crop!  It as so exciting!  I brought those precious leaves in and carefully washed and dried them!  Guess what I had for lunch today??  It was the best salad I've had in a long time! Absolutely NO chemicals or pesticides!  YUM!

I bet that was fantastic! My comment really doesn't have anything to do with your crop, though...sorry! What I really want to know is where you got that Advent wreath at the top of the page...I've been looking for one for my blog and haven't found any I like. Thanks!

I love your excitement :) - I was the same way the first time I planted greens which was spinach. (Which I use for sandwiches and salads - fresh, it's too good to cook.)

May God bless you with discomfort,
at easy answers, half-truths, and superficial relationships,
so that you may live deep within your heart.

May God bless you with anger,
at injustice, oppression, and exploitation of people,
so that you may work for justice, freedom, and peace.

May God bless you with tears,
to shed for those who suffer from pain, rejection, starvation, and war,
so that you may reach out your hand to comfort them and turn their
pain to joy.

And may God bless you with enough foolishness,
to believe that you can make a difference in this world,
so that you can do what others claim cannot be done
to bring justice and kindness to all our children and the poor

Amen.
