I would have puffed up my mommy chest and played the because I said so or the because I'm the boss card too. I'm trying to do a better job at picking my battles. I'm trying to do better at not letting my feathers get so easily ruffled. Why is it even when we're the teachers or the parents we're often still the ones learning and being students?Frizzyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15150850904947257133noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3509491571912284306.post-63780246625434862512010-09-28T18:44:32.311-04:002010-09-28T18:44:32.311-04:00Barbara...you are right, the bedtime thing is the ...Barbara...you are right, the bedtime thing is the biggest issue (I think). I was resistant to trying it in the first place because, like you, I think children should choose to do the right thing because it IS the right thing and they are part of the family. Somehow, "the right thing" and "because we are a family" doesn't seem to be enough motivation for my daughter. Sigh.Mary N.https://www.blogger.com/profile/06618318192221168152noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3509491571912284306.post-67473986298669335472010-09-28T07:54:23.015-04:002010-09-28T07:54:23.015-04:00Nancy,

And in our house, delayed obedience is disobedience. That said, I let them wake when they are ready, so our day starts later, but at least they are rested. If bedtime issues continue, that can be a punishment separate from school -- like going to be earlier or losing a favorite activity on the weekend.Barbarahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00747308009364094199noreply@blogger.com
