Spare change anyone???

I wish I had a nickel for every time I bend down and pick up things off of the floor that DON'T BELONG TO ME!!

When I walked in the door tonight....I picked up all kinds of things off the floor in the living room. When we sat down to eat dinner.....the floor was spotless. That was about 1 hour ago.
I thought I would share with you what is ON THE FLOOR right now....

1 Thomas the Tank Engine
2 dirty socks belonging to Olivia
1 Tonka ambulance/rescue truck
1 blanket
1 pillow from the couch
1 basket of various toy items
1 laundry basket of clothes needed to be folded (ok...I admit I put this one there)

and........

1 library book

How does this happen? Or, more importantly, why does this happen? I threaten to throw things away if they're on the floor....I really do threaten! Why don't I follow through???? Because I paid darn good money for these things, that's why!!!

I wonder if moving would be easier?

One of my friends boxed ALL of her kids toys up for 2 weeks, and then made them decide what they were willing to care for. She loved the toy free zone, and they are putting things away again...

I tried . . .something .. .when the kids were little to get them to pick stuff up and it didn't work. It still doesn't work. I have no clue what to do. I guess you learn to love it - it is a sign that they are home and feel comfortable there. Yeah. That's what it means. It's a good thing.

Sure.

I spent over an hour yesterday afternoon walking from room to room picking up. I could easily have spent three hours! I thought about boxing it all up and saving it for another garage sale. Wouldn't they flip to see all their stuff for sale -- and they probably wouldn't miss it (that's the sad part!).

All I can say is maybe someday my house will stay tidy. Maybe.

My floors is one of my peeves too. I hate seeing my newly vacuumed, swept and mopped floors with spots or crumbs on them 5 minutes later. Makes me nutty I tell you. NUTTY! I feel your pain sister. ((Hugs)) I've made those same threats and I've followed through. It doesn't make a difference. My floors still get dirty again.

Here's an idea: box it all up and charge the kids money to get it back. I have the same problem.

You don't have to throw it away. You just have to hide if for a few days.

I like Therese's idea too and I have limited our children to three toys each. They rarely play with toys anyway.
