Mother and Father are OUT!! (***warning: non child friendly post!)

It seems that the United States government (the passport office, anyway) has decided that it is no longer correct to refer to the 2 (male and female!) human beings that cooperated with God to bring you into existence, as "mother" and "father".  Unfortunately, if you have children and are applying for a U.S. passport, you will now be referred to as "Parent 1" and Parent 2".  This is according to the Family Equality Council (whatever THAT is)!

You can click HERE to read the story for yourself, if you so dare.

A statement on the State Department website noted:  "These improvements are being made to provide a gender neutral description of a child's parents and in recognition of different types of families".

I have a few questions though......would I be considered "parent 1" or "parent 2" and does this mean you could feasibly have "parent 3" or "parent 4" or more?  How about "mommy 1" and "mommy 2" or "daddy 1" and "daddy 2"?  Isn't that even MORE politically correct?

What is with this "gender neutral" stuff?  The world is trying to go neutral!  Educational neutrality is when you can't use a RED pen to correct a student's work because it might make them feel bad.  Athletic neutrality is when you no longer keep score in school sports because you don't want anyone to LOSE and when you can no longer play dodge ball because everyone picks on the weakest one inside the circle.  Sigh!

This is all really getting to me these days.  If it's not one thing, it's another.  I'm so tired of it all.  Times are getting tough and I truly feel sorry for my children and their children...and so on for all of this that they will have to endure.

Today, on my Unto The Hills desk calendar by Billy Graham:

"Pray without ceasing.  In every thing give thanks:  for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you."  1 Thess.5:17-18
"Praying unlocks the doors of heaven and releases the power of God.  God's answers are
always right and good and best.  Whether prayer changes our situation or not, one thing
is certain:  Prayer will change us!"

You know what!

When I woke up this morning....I was very sad about "you know what" that happened yesterday. I was also just devastated about "you know who's" flip flop...although I wasn't surprised. I was disgusted by the other "you know who's" GIANT GAVEL that she carried across the street (just for show, mind you). I wish she would have asked me where she should put it....I would have figured out a really good place!

Apparently, the BIG KAHUNA "you know who" is going to sign the "you know what" tomorrow at 11:15am. Thankfully, I'll be at work trying to earn money to pay for the health care coverage that I have (I can hardly wait until it's FREE!) so I won't be able to watch the spectacle. I just wonder if burning the Constitution will be part of the ceremony.

I'm Torn!

As most of you know, I'm a HUGE Lost fan! I've been waiting forever for the final season to begin! Well, the season starts tonight! I'm so excited! However, last night I got a call from a good friend reminding me about another commitment I had made for tonight. Yikes! You see, a couple of months ago, some friends and I had made the decision that we would go see the Bill O'Reilly/Glenn Beck show "The Bold Fresh Tour". Unfortunately, they weren't coming to Jacksonville....but they would be in Tampa. Well, to make a long story short....the tickets sold out in about 3 hours! We never had a chance!

Then we heard they were going to do a live simulcast of the show at various movie theatres around town. *Sigh*, we couldn't get tickets for that one either! However, they are replaying it tonight. I must not have been thinking straight when I said I would go because I'm sure I would have never said "yes" if I knew it was the SEASON OPENER FOR LOST! Ah, such is life! Dan said he would record it for me. But, if I had to choose between Beck/O'Reilly and Jack /Sawyer.....I'd pick Jack & Sawyer EVERY TIME!

Isn't this lovely???

This is what the left has resorted to in order to aid Sotomayor in getting confirmed. Do you see whose face is depicted here? I'll give you a hint....it's NOT Our Lady of Guadalupe. Believe it or not....I am speechless. Click here for the story.

I'm a gonner!!

I guess the oncologist and I will not get to discuss treatment options and decide what to do...if and when my cancer returns. But, thank goodness President Obama will have it all figured out for me and the decision will already be made. Phew!

We are in SOOO MUCH TROUBLE!!!!

This just in from the Drudgereport.....

ABC TURNS PROGRAMMING OVER TO OBAMA; NEWS TO BE ANCHORED FROM INSIDE WHITE HOUSE

Tue Jun 16 2009 08:45:10 ET

On the night of June 24, the media and government become one, when ABC turns its programming over to President Obama and White House officials to push government run health care -- a move that has ignited an ethical firestorm! Highlights on the agenda: ABCNEWS anchor Charlie Gibson will deliver WORLD NEWS from the Blue Room of the White House. The network plans a primetime special -- 'Prescription for America' -- originating from the East Room, exclude opposing voices on the debate.

MORE...... Late Monday night, Republican National Committee Chief of Staff Ken McKay fired off a complaint to the head of ABCNEWS: Dear Mr. Westin: As the national debate on health care reform intensifies, I am deeply concerned and disappointed with ABC's astonishing decision to exclude opposing voices on this critical issue on June 24, 2009. Next Wednesday, ABC News will air a primetime health care reform “town hall” at the White House with President Barack Obama. In addition, according to an ABC News report, GOOD MORNING AMERICA, WORLD NEWS, NIGHTLINE and ABC’s web news “will all feature special programming on the president’s health care agenda.” This does not include the promotion, over the next 9 days, the president’s health care agenda will receive on ABC News programming. Today, the Republican National Committee requested an opportunity to add our Party's views to those of the President's to ensure that all sides of the health care reform debate are presented. Our request was rejected. I believe that the President should have the ability to speak directly to the America people. However, I find it outrageous that ABC would prohibit our Party's opposing thoughts and ideas from this national debate, which affects millions of ABC viewers. In the absence of opposition, I am concerned this event will become a glorified infomercial to promote the Democrat agenda. If that is the case, this primetime infomercial should be paid for out of the DNC coffers. President Obama does not hold a monopoly on health care reform ideas or on free airtime. The President has stated time and time again that he wants a bipartisan debate. Therefore, the Republican Party should be included in this primetime event, or the DNC should pay for your airtime. Respectfully,Ken McKayRepublican National CommitteeChief of Staff.

MORE,.....ABCNEWS Senior Vice President Kerry Smith on Tuesday responded to the RNC complaint, saying it contained 'false premises':"ABCNEWS prides itself on covering all sides of important issues and asking direct questions of all newsmakers -- of all political persuasions -- even when others have taken a more partisan approach and even in the face of criticism from extremes on both ends of the political spectrum. ABCNEWS is looking for the most thoughtful and diverse voices on this issue. "ABCNEWS alone will select those who will be in the audience asking questions of the president. Like any programs we broadcast, ABC News will have complete editorial control. To suggest otherwise is quite unfair to both our journalists and our audience." Developing...

Unbelievable!!!!!

PELOSI SAYS BIRTH CONTROL WILL HELP ECONOMY Sun Jan 25 2009 22:13:43 ET

Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi boldly defended a move to add birth control funding to the new economic "stimulus" package, claiming "contraception will reduce costs to the states and to the federal government." Pelosi, the mother of 5 children and 6 grandchildren, who once said, "Nothing in my life will ever, ever compare to being a mom," seemed to imply babies are somehow a burden on the treasury. The revelation came during an exchange Sunday morning on ABC's THIS WEEK.
STEPHANOPOULOS: Hundreds of millions of dollars to expand family planning services. How is that stimulus?
PELOSI: Well, the family planning services reduce cost. They reduce cost. The states are in terrible fiscal budget crises now and part of what we do for children's health, education and some of those elements are to help the states meet their financial needs. One of those - one of the initiatives you mentioned, the contraception, will reduce costs to the states and to the federal government.
STEPHANOPOULOS: So no apologies for that?
PELOSI: No apologies. No. we have to deal with the consequences of the downturn in our economy. Developing...

Twins???

I've heard it said that we all have a twin somewhere in the world....someone who looks just like us and could even fool our friends. Well...check out this story! Apparently, Mr. Obama has a twin in Indonesia. I mean really....this guys looks just like him! Frankly, I think it's creepy. Besides, I'm not so sure the world is ready for two Obama's! I'm still trying to get over the sticker shock of the first one!

Thank you, President Bush!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I saw this on Marie's blog and just had to ask permission to repost it here.

"As President Bush prepares to leave office many in America & around the world are contemplating his legacy and not all in a spirit of fairness. I hope this piece is written in a fair minded manner.
Under the guidance of President Bush America has faced only one terrorist attack and none of us will forget September 11th 2001. It is the defining moment of recent history and the world will now remain before and after 9/11.
Imagine getting up in the morning and reading reports where this or that terrorist group is planning to strike your country. Can any of us imagine the enmormity and responsibility of protecting millions of their fellow country men from harm? President Bush has faced this task every day for eight years.
There are those who criticize the war in Iraq but this faces us with a conundrum(I face this too). We often hear of atrocities and in hindsight we wonder how did Pol Pot manage to murder millions of his own people? How did the Hutu's in Rwanda slaughter millions of their own country men? How did Idi Amin brutalize his own people? How did Saddam Hussein gas and murder the Kurds even little babies?
Because we chose to look the other way. It wasn't happening to us.
You see we speak about peace in the safe confines of our own living rooms as we see these atrocities take place. We say things like, 'this shouldn't happen,' and those 'poor people. Lord look after them.' And then we turn the TV over to watch American Idol or Greys Anatomy.
"All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing."
We read the above quote by Edmund Burke and most agree with it but do we understand his meaning? We are the ones doing nothing.
We wept over Cambodia but we did nothing. We prayed for the people in Rwanda while we ran away. We cried as we saw the horror of the Kurdish people and then turned away.
In the end it wasn't happening to us and we didn't care enough to really care about them.
You see, Freedom costs but most of us dont want to know the price.
Every intelligence agency told President Bush that Iraq had weapons of Mass Destruction. What was the President supposed to do, cross his fingers and toes and hope they got it wrong?
Whether you agree with the Presidents decision or not, he acted. He stopped a brutal mass murderer and tyrant and I for one am not going to weep over the loss of Saddam Hussein and his murderous sons.
This time the American President for good or worse did not look the other way. He stopped a mass murderer and he freed a country with the help of his Allies.
Many call the President himself a mass murderer, those who do this then please show us his mass graves? Show the world his hidden rape rooms. Oh that's right, wrong country that was happening in Iraq. President Bush and his Allies helped stop it.
Has President Bush made mistakes ofcourse. The economy for one, he took his eyes off the ball and many Americans and people the world over will be paying a price for his lack of oversight. The buck really does stop at the Presidents desk.
But there are also successes. President Bush banned Post Partial Abortion. Praise God there was a President ready to take on the feminist nazification philosophy of sheer evil, the murder of half born babies.
Who knows how many children that President Bush has saved by banning this evil act, but rest assured God knows.
The President also appointed two Pro-Life Supreme Court Judges once again facing down the Feminazi brigade and those liberal, heretical 'catholic' politicians who don't have the backbone to stand on their beliefs!
As for the Iraqi reporter who threw his shoes at President Bush, he is still alive. Under Saddam Hussein he would now be dead and that is the difference.
Now you may not agree with all of President Bush's policies, but at least give the President some credit where credit is due.
In Africa the President has a popularity level of over 80%. Why? Because once again he is not just standing by. His policies has saved lives, African lives.
In America his popularity is at an all time low at below 30%. Why? Because many 'talk' peace with no teeth. We want to weep for the suffering people without it costing us anything.
So the next time you feel like insulting the President ask yourself this. What have you done today to make the world a safer place and how have you helped the poor?"

Wonderfully said Marie....I thank you for this post!

So which is it???

Some time back, Al Gore (the inventor of the Internet and former V.P) said we don't have long as a society because Global Warming is going to cause us to burn up.......Now we read that we are headed for an Ice Age....so which is it? Are we going to burn or freeze? Scientists (and I use that term loosely) need to make up their minds.

My guess is that the real answer is neither, or rather, somewhere in the middle. But, I suppose whatever happens...average Americans are going to continue to be duped by politicians who have an agenda and have an "investment" in lots of studies and research!

6 Days!!! Only 6 Days people!!!

I'm amazed...it has been only 6 days (That's S-I-X) days since the election and we've already got a certain group of people saying the words "confiscate" in the same sentence as your retirement, IRA's and 401k's.

Is it 2012 yet???

You can't make this stuff up!!!

I'll leave you to your own thoughts about this photo taken at the Obama campaign headquarters in Las Vegas. Don't hurt yourself when falling over laughing.

There is some good news if Obama wins!

I like to think of myself as a positive person. Granted, events in my life over the last several months have made me slightly more realistic, but, I believe I can still see the good in each situation. I've been thinking long and hard about what a Barack Hussein Obama presidency will actually mean for me. I thought of some things that I wanted to bring to your attention....mainly so we don't hang our heads too low tomorrow. Here are my thoughts....

1. I'm significantly worried about homeschooling as we know it in this country. B.O. has not exactly come out "against" homeschooling...but, he's not really come out "for" it either. There is no official statement, however, there is this (h/t to the SpunkyHomeSchooler). That being said,
I believe that the good news here is that...he won't have time to deal with this homeschooling issue as he will be very busy having unilateral talks (without conditions) with the likes of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad (Iran), Kim Jong Il (North Korea), Fidel Castro, et al (Cuba), Hugo Chavez (Venezuela), Bashar al-Assad (Syria), Obama Osama Bin Laden (al Queda) as well as others not mentioned here. I think this could keep him busy for at least the first several months of the first year. There is also that issue that he wants to take care of FIRST that might also distract him a little.

2. Another bit of good news is that Dan and I are well below the stated $250, 000 $200,000$120,000 (or whatever amount they finally decide on) threshold for who makes "too much" and so we will be expecting a check soon. I mean...he seems very worried about the middle class and he (at least Joe Biden) considers it patriotic to give more of your hard earned money to those who have less. Who am I (who seems to have...less) to argue with that?

3. In addition to all of the above good news.....how can I go wrong with a president who has been endorsed by the likes of Oprah Winfrey, George Clooney, Al Franken, Rob Reiner, Warren Buffet, Joy Behar, Barbra Streisand, Jennifer Aniston and Jesse Jackson? I undertand that these individuals are all in good, ahem, moral standing and therefore can make pretty good role models for my children. I mean, who wouldn't want their daughters to be just like Jennifer Aniston and who wouldn't want their son to grow up and follow in the footsteps of Al Franken?

4. Currently, Dan and I each work part time. We thought this was the best scenario for our family since we couldn't (can't) really afford for one of us to stay home full time and so that our children did not have to go to day care. In addition, they get to spend quality time with both of us. Technically, I work for our medical benefits coverage. All this time I was thinking that my employer offering medical coverage was a benefit...but...apparently, I have a right to free medical care (free as in medical care that I don't have to pay for! Somebody must pay for it somewhere....but not me!!!) The good news here is that I don't really have to worry anymore about keeping my job so I can pay for my medical coverage. After B.O. is done meeting with the terrorist nations of the world, he can get right on that "socialized medicine" deal that has been so successful in Canada and I can quit my job and not have to worry about my pre-existing condition of cancer because.....someone else will pay for it.

I know that there is other good news out there if Obama becomes president but I really don't want you (or me) getting too excited because there is always the chance that he won't win.

So, please keep a stiff upper lip and hang in there because all is not lost....there are some things we can look forward to come January 20th.

Update at 7:04pm
****I think I might have gotten up on the wrong side of the bed today! Either that or I just really have a bad attitude. I apologize for the "tongue and cheek" nature of this post. I think all this election stuff has really done a number on me. Hopefully, I'll be back to normal soon...just in time for my next chemo treatment on Thursday****

There is still a chance....

....slim though it may be. Have you ever heard of the P.U.M.A. factor (warning: there could be a teeny, tiny expletive in that title)? Well, I hadn't either until a few hours ago. I wish I had this guy's confidence. Anyway, it won't be long now so take a few minutes to read how it is still possible for the McCain/Palin ticket to win.
