Well, the results from my MRI show a "bulging disc at the L5-S1 region". I'm not entirely sure what that means....only that it is painful. Apparently, it's pretty common and in most cases, there is nothing that can be done. If I'm lucky, I might get a couple of physical therapy sessions out of it...but for the most part, I'm just going to have to grin and bear it.
After reflecting on my post from this morning, I realized that God has given me the perfect offering for this Lenten season. Perhaps I can offer up my pain and discomfort....perhaps this is my cross to bear for now.
I'm really looking forward to our Faith Sharing "Why Catholic?" group tonight. I will share with you my thoughts on the beginning of this study come tomorrow.
Thanks for all of your prayers and concern. Oh...by the way....the picture above is not of my spine, but it shows perfectly what a bulging disc looks like on the left. The photo on the right is of the same person...after some sort of stem cell (adult) treatment.

I feel your pain! Literally! I had a fusion at two "L" levels, which ended up with a staph infection and osteomyelitis (bone marrow infection). It was a nightmare and I wanted to die. Do the therapy. Get a second opinion before having any surgery. Fact: They CAN go in and "shave off" the bulging portion of the disc so that it does not impede on the nerve. Proceed with great caution. Praying for you!!
Keeping you on my daily rosary. Yes, some people don't get to choose their Lenten sacrifice. God knows you best, my dear.
Keeping you in my daily prayers for healing as well. Bulging disks just SOUND painful. I can't imagine what it must feel like.
Keeping you in my prayers daily Nancy, hope you feel pain free very, very soon!!
Ouch! My husband has the same problem. He herniated one of his discs. I'm glad the pain level has lessened a bit and I will keep you in my prayers.
Good attitude, Nancy - offering it up for Lent:) I know it pleases God when we do this!
Medical Dr's will never tell you, but Chiropractors can be very successful in helping in the healing process.
Find one who does not do manual adjustments. Find one who is certified (important) in the Activator method. There is no twisting or pulling in his adjustment. It is very specific and he can give you relief. He can get the pressure off of the nerves in the spine and help your body to heal.
So many people have been fed the big lie about chiropractic when they can do so much good for you.
I would certainly go that avenue long before I would ever consider any invasive procedure such as surgery.
Will be keeping you in my thoughts and prayers. Thank you for doing the same for my sister.
