What does "getting caught up" on laundry really mean? Does it mean to have ALL of it done or just enough to be able to see the floor? I ask this because it occurred to me today that when ALL of my laundry is done.....I don't have enough room in the linen closet for all the clean towels!
I think it's best to leave some of it dirty. I'm just sayin.

when my washing is caught up, I can get the washing that is on the laundry floor done in a day.
This doesn't include the dirty clothes that is still in the bedrooms and bathrooms. They usually get bought out in the evening and I try to get it all done the next day.
Usually when my washing is "caught up" I will have 3-4 loads each day. When it is behind, I have 6-8 loads. At the moment I have about 6 loads I think sitting waiting to be washed.
I currently have 3 loads to wash...one in the washer...one in the dryer...and three waiting to be folded...UGH!!! It is my belief that you can never be totally finished with the laundry...unless your family are nudists...and clean freaks :)

We do two people's laundry per day, six days a week, with towels, sheets, and other assorted filthy items worked in as needed!
Sure am glad I learned how to make my own laundry detergent...sure saves the bucks and you never run out!
Laundry is never caught up because as soon as the baskets are empty, there are the days clothes worn that day ready to go back in...it is a losing battle! Right now, I have 4 laid flat to fold, one in the washer and one in the dryer!

1) ...Yes, I'm up-to-date on what's clean and what's dirty. And...? :)
2) ...Everyone has a change of clothes for tomorrow
3) ...Everyone has clean underwear for tomorrow :)
4) ...Doesn'tMatterI'mJustThrilledIDon'tHaveToLugItToTheLaundromat!!!
Collecting from all the rooms is what I dislike most about laundry. A big secret? To minimize your time and effort, let (insist) everyone put their dirty clothes in the laundry room, in baskets according to how you sort. Teach them how to sort if they can comprehend. If not, just set up a basket per person. The key is: NO hampers all over the house; ONLY in the laundry room or ONE area close to the laundry room. For those who don't comply, consequences will usually win them over. Go ahead and pick up their clothes to get them out of the way or out of sight. BUT, then, dispose of them in a community barrel labelled, "mom-had-to-pick-this-up-and-it-will-get-washed-when-owner-at-least-weekly-fishes-everything-out-and-puts-it-in-the-laundry-room-basket." Painless for everyone and effective!
Laundry is a job that is never done, unless you strip the entire family and don't let them get dressed and I don't wanna do that. I just look at it as job security. : \
