Library Time

I took the kids to the library yesterday....and I paid my fine {lowers head in shame!}. The librarian decided she should give me a pep talk about keeping our library books in a special place so as not to lose track of them and rack up fines...yada,yada,yada. Is this lady for real? We don't keep our library books in a special place, do you? I mean, we've found the best way to deal with library books is to scatter them all over the house (including the bathroom and the garage), and then run around in a panic 2 days after they are due trying to gather them all up! Isn't that how everyone does it?

Anyway, I limited the girls to 5 books each! Any more than that and it could get ugly! I let Nathan roam free and he came away with about 10 books....he had most of them read by last night, except for the chapter books.

I actually came home with two books this time:

1. Airframe by Michael Crichton~I've been wanting to read a good novel that would challenge my mind and keep me turning the pages. I have much confidence in Mr. Crichton...but this one is a slow start. I'm 70 pages into it and I'm waiting for the intrigue to start.

2. The Zone by Dr. Barry Sears~Strangely enough, I used to OWN this book, but gave it away a few months ago for the used book sale at our parish school. I wish I had kept it. I'm in deep, deep trouble with my weight and I'm desperate.

What are you reading?

Unfinished Desires by Gail Godwin. My mother passed it on because it's about an all girl's Catholic school, part boarders, part day students, and is full of similarities to our school here celebrating 150 yrs of educating. Back in the day they had part boarders, part day students but there are amazing parts about the Faith etc. Now, not what we can sell in the store b/c of the underlying closeness of two girls but never anything appalling, my mother wouldn't pass that on. Hahaha.

I've been enjoying The Thief series by Megan Whalen Turner lately. I can't wait for the last book in the series (it's on hold at the library). Love the library!

I don't have any suggestion other than to save your time and stop reading Airframe. I read it years ago and was disappointed. I don't want to ruin it for you in case you keep reading, but I recommend returning it to the library immediately.
